Leara.RhodesAdvisor: Dr. Leara Rhodes

Fulbright scholar and distinguished professor, Dr. Leara Rhodes has worked with clients such as  Coca-Cola USA, The Fortune Group, The Atlanta-Journal Constitution, and Creative Loafing.  At the University of Georgia, she is an Associate Professor teaching magazine writing and publishing, international communications, and a graduate proseminar.

Shajira Mohammed graduated from the University of Georgia with dual degrees in Biology and Psychology with the ambition of becoming a physician. She established PreMed Magazine so students could have an informative publication about medical field that still pertains to them as students at The University of Georgia.


AnnikaEditor-in-Chief: Annika Carter

Annika Carter is a member of the University of Georgia’s Class of 2018 and is pursuing a genetics and psychology double major and a concentration in neuroscience.  Annika began writing for the Pre Med Magazine in Fall 2014 and became Editorial Editor in 2015.  In her free time, Annika enjoys rock climbing, mountain biking, spending time with her friends and family, and fostering cats.  Annika aspires to continue to graduate school and complete an M.D./Ph.D. program before becoming a medical doctor.

Sona Rao is a UGA student majoring in Management Information Systems with a minor in Public Health. She is passionate about writing and health economics and hopes to use data analytics and project management to improve healthcare systems and operations. Sona is pursuing a career in health policy and management and hopes to write about the healthcare industry in the future.

Photography Editor: Lily Wang

Lily WangLily is a Biology student, and she has been interested in photography since her sophomore year of high school when she received her first DSLR camera. She loves taking candid shots of people and hopes her skills widen as she takes on her position for the PreMed Magazine. Other than being part of the PreMed Mag staff, she is a mentor at the Thomas Lay After School Program and enjoys volunteering at the Athens Humane Society Adoption Center. Upon graduating from UGA, she plans to attend optometry school and hopes to open up her own private practice in the future.

Selin Odman is a sophomore who plans to major in Biology and Psychology. She was a part of her high school’s newspaper staff and she hopes to continue writing on a subject that she is interested in. In her free time, Selin likes to watch shows like House and Dexter and bake cupcakes. She loves UGA for the unlimited possibilities for its students.
